The Mercer Educational Gardens is unique in Mercer County. Open dawn to dusk, this educational facility uses self-guided tours to teach backyard composting to the residents of Mercer County. There are 20 different compost bins, each maintained by a Master Gardener team. Some bins can be purchased, but many can be made at home with common materials..

Surrounding the compost bins and in the middle are seven teaching gardens with various plant materials. Below is a map of the facility. Click on the Compost Bin Area to learn more about the bins and their advantages and disadvantages. Click on each garden name to see one or more photos of that garden. Click on the Kiosk to learn more about the composting process. Click on the mailbox to see a schedule of upcoming educational programs and events.

All photos were taken by one of the following volunteer Master Gardeners:
Carole Armel, Virginia Link, Kathy Enquist, Tom Miller, Evy Roberts, Nancy Putnam, and Joe Scarlata
